Arctic Advisory Board
The mandate of the Arctic Advisory Board appointed by the Prime Minister’s Office is to monitor and coordinate Finland's activities in the Arctic and the implementation of Finland's Strategy for the Arctic Region adopted by the Government in August 2013.
The Strategy defines a number of objectives for Finland’s Arctic policy and explores ways of promoting them. It outlines Finland’s role in the Arctic region and a vision for Arctic Finland: Finland is an active Arctic actor with the ability to reconcile the limitations imposed and business opportunities provided by the Arctic environment in a sustainable manner while drawing upon international cooperation.
In addition to its coordination functions, the Advisory Board is to pay attention to Arctic issues, promote cooperation and work together with other countries and actors.
The Arctic Advisory Board is chaired by State Secretary from the Prime Minister's Office. Its mandate will end in October 2016.
