The President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy held a meeting on Friday 10 February to discuss the possibility offered to Finland to join the UK-lead Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF) of the Nato framework nations.

This cooperation would improve Finland’s military performance and crisis management capability as well as offer a channel for broader networking. The decision on Finland’s participation will be made later on. Finland will seek to move forward in the matter together with Sweden. Besides JEF, the President and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy was informed about the content of the Framework Nation Concept led by Germany.
