Centenary organisation

The centenary project is prepared by a board, which meets regurlary, and a commission, which meets once a year. Practical level arrangements are handled by the centenary secretariat led by the project's general secretary.

Centenary board

The board is to prepare a declaration of the centenary programme which will set out the key objectives, principles, themes and activities for the anniversary year. The board will also be responsible for the planning and coordination of the official events and for the implementation and steering of the centennial year.

The centenary board is chaired by State Secretary Paula Lehtomäki, with General Secretary Pekka Timonen as its secretary – both from the Prime Minister's Office.

Centenary commission

The centenary commission is chaired by Prime Minister Juha Sipilä with Minister of Finance Alexander Stubb as its vice chair.

The commission comprises over 60 people representing various sectors of society. The commission will decide on the general outline of the centenary celebrations. General Secretary Pekka Timonen from the Prime Minister's Office serves as secretary to the commission.
