Communications on the EU and international affairs

The Government Communications Department is responsible for the government EU communications and it provides information on, for example, the European Council meetings and meetings of the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs. Briefings for the media, stakeholder communications and training on key EU issues make also part of the EU communications.

The specialists responsible for the ministries' EU communications meet regularly to set out the EU communications priorities and to chart out related flagship communications projects in the ministries. The press team from Finland's Permanent Representation to the European Union in Brussels is also involved in the planning of the EU communications.

The Government Communications Department is responsible for communications and media arrangements relating to

  • the prime minister's travel abroad
  • the prime minister’s participation in international events in Finland and
  • visits by international guests, hosted by the prime minister.
