Party subsidies

The Government grants annual subsidies in support of political activities to Finland's political parties and to the Province of Åland.

These subsidies are distributed in proportion to the number of seats allocated to each party in the most recent parliamentary elections. Parties represented in Parliament and entered in the register of parties maintained by the Ministry of Justice are eligible for party subsidies,which are granted by the Prime Minister's Office in line with the provisions of the Political Parties Act. The National Audit Office of Finland, NAOF, supervises monitoring of the use of party subsidies.

Appropriations for assisting political activities fall under the Prime Minister's Office main title of expenditure within the Budget (subsidies to political parties).
