Project on the centenary of Finland's independence

Finland celebrates the 100th anniversary of its independence in 2017. ‘Together’ has been selected as the main theme of the centenary of Finland’s independence.

It is hoped that whole of the anniversary year 2017 will be a meeting place for all Finns and friends of Finland. An extensive programme of events and projects for the centenary will be built openly in cooperation with various actors.

The centenary visual identity repeat the theme of the anniversary year. The Finland 100 logo has, as a permanent element, the number 100, resembling wood and its annual rings. Its second element is the word Finland, which changes according to the writer and can be written by everyone in the way they wish.

The centenary preparations will emphasise the importance of civil society and creativity. Finland has succeeded over one hundred years in building and maintaining a stable, democratic society.

At the same time, creativity – the freedom to discover and try new solutions – has important in ensuring development. Creativity has been the key to the economic success of the individual and the nation as well as intellectual wellbeing.
