Press release

Because of the coronavirus crisis, the terms and conditions for  the sale of personal protective equipment intended for professional use  were changed so that protective equipment would not need to meet, in certain respects,  the requirements of the EU Regulation 2016/425 on personal protective equipment.

Now that the epidemic has slowed down, Finland tries to return back to normal. Personal protective equipment intended for the Finnish market must fully meet the requirements of the EU Regulation on personal protective equipment from 1 October 2020 onwards.

However, it is permitted to bring to the Finnish market protective equipment that is in line with the earlier policy outline of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. This will be possible until 31 August 2020. To protect employees from coronavirus, it is also permitted to sell protective equipment that is already on the market until 31 December 2020, provided that the equipment is in line with the Ministry’s policy outline.

Nevertheless, personal protective equipment used to protect against coronavirus must always meet the relevant essential health and safety requirements. The policy outline is available only in Finnish:
