Minister Kulmuni to visit committees of the European Parliament

Minister of Economic Affairs Katri Kulmuni will present the priorities for Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union to three committees of the European Parliament in Brussels on 23 and 24 July 2019.

On Tuesday 23 July, Minister Kulmuni and Minister of Transport and Communications Sanna Marin will present the themes for Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU to the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) and on Wednesday 24 July to the Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN).  Additionally, Minister Kulmuni will present the priorities for Finland’s Presidency of the Council of the EU to the Committee on Regional Development (REGI) on 23 July.

Minister Kulmuni will visit the committees in the capacity of the chair of the Competitiveness and Energy Councils. Ministers representing the Presidency of the Council of the EU who are responsible for the relevant sector will present the presidency priorities to the committees of the European Parliament and have an exchange of views with Members of the European Parliament.

While in Brussels, Minister Kulmuni will also have meetings with Finnish Members of the European Parliament and Commission Vice-President Jyrki Katainen. In a meeting with European Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations Johannes Hahn, the topic of discussion will be regional development.
