Vice President of Argentina, President of the Senate Gabriela Michetti will visit Finland on 2–6 September. The visit will be hosted by Prime Minister Juha Sipilä. Vice President Michetti's programme will also include meetings with President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö, Speaker of Parliament Paula Risikko and several ministers. She will also meet representatives of Finnish businesses.

The purpose of the visit is to celebrate the centennial of Finland–Argentina relations and to strengthen cooperation between the countries in various sectors. Argentina was the first non-European country to recognise Finland's independence on 11 May 1918.

Prime Minister Sipilä and Vice President Michetti will have a working lunch at the House of the Estates on 5 September to discuss the bilateral relations and commercial cooperation between Finland and Argentina.

Argentina is the third largest economy in Latin America after Brazil and Mexico. Trade between Finland and Argentina has grown in recent years. Argentina offers an array of export and cooperation opportunities in many sectors where Finland has special expertise, such as bioeconomy and forestry, digitalisation, communication technology, energy and infrastructure sectors, and educational services.
