Government communications guidelines to be revised

On Friday 4 March, the Prime Minister's Office set up a working group to revise the government communications guidelines. The guidelines were last updated in 2010.

The mandate of the working group is to examine to what extent the current communications guidelines require revision and to put forward a proposal for revised guidelines. The new guidelines must take into account the position and responsibilities of the government communications in a changing communications environment.

The working group is also to describe the role of communications with regard to strategic management and outline guidelines for political and public servant communications. Other important areas include communications for citizens, the changing media landscape, new forms of communications, media literacy and the impact of communications.
