Minister Tuppurainen to visit Brussels

Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Tytti Tuppurainen will travel to Brussels on 24 January. The purpose of her visit is to discuss topical EU matters.

“There is active debate at the EU level on many issues that are important for Finland, such as the economic situation in Europe, the EU’s competitiveness, and migration from third countries to the EU. Finland is actively involved in these discussions, and today’s meetings are a good opportunity to present Finland’s views directly to the key Commissioners”, Minister Tuppurainen says.

During the day, Minister Tuppurainen will meet with Executive Vice President of the European Commission Margrethe Vestager, Commissioner for Home Affairs Ylva Johansson, Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn and Commissioner for Jobs and Social Rights Nicolas Schmit.

Their discussions will focus on the economic and employment situation in Europe, strengthening the EU’s competitiveness, migration from third countries to the EU, and issues related to the rule of law.

While in Brussels, Minister Tuppurainen will also meet with Finnish public officials in leading positions in EU institutions.
