The President and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed the situation in North Korea, the United States, Finnish-Swedish cooperation and the leak of information concerning the Finnish Intelligence Research Establishment

On Tuesday 19 December, the President of the Republic and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy discussed the situation in North Korea. Finland has repeatedly condemned North Korea’s actions, which constitute an acute threat to international peace and security.

At the meeting a presentation was given on the foreign policy outlines of the United States Government, in particular relating to multilateral cooperation in the context of international organisations. Also on the agenda was closer Finnish-Swedish cooperation in the foreign and security policy and defence sectors.

The President of the Republic and the Cabinet Committee on Foreign and Security Policy also discussed the leak of information concerning the Finnish Intelligence Research Establishment (FIRE).
