In its meeting on Wednesday 17 April, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs outlined Finland’s positions for the special European Council to be held in Brussels on 17 and 18 April. Items on the agenda for the meeting include the ongoing events in the Middle East and Ukraine, relations with Türkiye and Europe’s long-term competitiveness.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and Prime Minister Petteri Orpo will meet in Lappeenranta, Finland on Friday 19 April. They will also visit Finland’s eastern border.

In its meeting on Friday 5 April, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs discussed the proposal on EU security commitments to Ukraine. The Ministerial Committee also discussed the proposed declaration on social rights and the annual report on EU litigation, and outlined Finland’s positions for three upcoming council meetings.
