On Friday 22 March, the second day of its meeting, the European Council discussed responding to concerns raised by EU farmers and enabling Ukraine to export its grain. On the second day of the meeting, EU leaders also held a Euro Summit and a celebratory session with the EEA countries.
Citizens’ Pulse: Trust in healthcare and education continue their decline

Trust in healthcare remains on its downward path in the March Citizens’ Pulse survey, and has now hit a historic low at 58 per cent. The same is true of trust in the education system, which is now at 71 per cent.
Government submits supplementary budget proposal to Parliament

On Thursday 21 March, the Government submitted a supplementary budget proposal for 2024 to Parliament. The proposal includes appropriations for speeding up the construction of the fence on the eastern border, introducing targeted measures to alleviate the situation in the construction sector and providing additional support to Ukraine. In addition, it proposes reducing revenue estimates by EUR 1.3 billion based on the forecast published by the Ministry of Finance in December 2023.
