Ministerial Committee on EU Affairs outlines Finland’s positions ahead of EU summit

In its meeting on Wednesday 20 March, the Ministerial Committee on European Union Affairs outlined Finland’s positions for the European Council meeting and the Euro Summit to be held in connection with it. The Ministerial Committee also discussed Bosnia and Herzegovina’s path to EU membership, as well as the reform of the Habitats Directive and the Bern Convention.

The Permanent Secretaries of the ministries have drawn up a joint outlook on key issues for Finland’s next two government terms. The report aims to shift the focus from topical themes to a longer-term perspective. The Opportunities for Finland report published on 6 February provides a knowledge base for discussions around the elections this spring and for drawing up the next government programme.
Government’s updated sustainability roadmap describes development of overall sustainability during the parliamentary term

The Government’s sustainability roadmap, adopted during the mid-term policy review session in spring 2021, outlines the Government Programme’s objective of a socially, economically and ecologically sustainable society in concrete terms. The newly published, revised roadmap describes what has been achieved during this government term, what sustainability looks like in Finland in the 2020s, what kind of sustainability we will aim for in the future and what measures will be needed to achieve it.
