The leaders of the European Union and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) met at a two-day summit in Brussels on 17 and 18 July. The aim of the third EU-CELAC Summit was to enhance cooperation and demonstrate a shared commitment to maintaining the rules-based international order.

Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo and Federal Chancellor of Germany Olaf Scholz met in Berlin on Friday 14 July. Their meeting focused on European security and on developing trade and economic relations between Finland and Germany.

According to a study published on 26 April, short-term shocks, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in Ukraine, have required the active involvement of states to ensure the sustainability of their economies and societies.
