Minister for European Affairs Tuppurainen to European Parliament plenary session

Minister for European Affairs Tytti Tuppurainen will attend the plenary session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 26–27 November. The agenda of the session will include a vote on the composition of the new Commission.

In her speeches at the plenary session, the Minister for European Affairs will refer to the preparations for the December European Council, the EU's accession to the Istanbul Convention, interference from other countries in democracies and elections in the EU, Russia's actions towards Lithuanian prosecutors and judges, and the negotiations on a new EU-ACP Partnership Agreement.

Minister Tuppurainen will represent the Council of the European Union at the European Parliament, as Finland holds the Presidency of the Council of the EU from July to December 2019. At the plenary session, the Presidency of the Council of the EU takes part in the inter-institutional dialogue with the Members of the European Parliament and the Commissioners and speaks for the Council.
