Jyrki Knuutinen appointed Director General of Government Ownership Steering Department

On Tuesday 19 December, the Government announced the appointment of Jyrki Knuutinen, Senior Ministerial Adviser and Master of Laws, as Director General of the Government Ownership Steering Department of the Prime Minister's Office for a five-year fixed-term period from 1 January 2018.

Knuutinen worked in OKO Group from 1987 to 2001 as director of investment banking and in the role of an expert. He then took his Master of Laws degree in England, where he also completed a doctoral thesis in law. Knuutinen started working in the Ministry of Finance in 2005, first as a special adviser and later as a ministerial adviser, and currently as a senior ministerial adviser. During this period he also worked for the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in the Permanent Representation of Finland to the European Union in the capacity of special adviser (Financial Services Attaché).

The Government Ownership Steering Department formulates and implements state ownership policy and ownership steering. The Department is also responsible for the ownership steering of state-owned companies under the Prime Minister’s Office, the coordination of ministries' ownership steering procedures, and interministerial cooperation.
