Prime Minister Marin to meet EU leaders in Brussels

On Thursday 6 February, Prime Minister Sanna Marin will meet President of the European Council Charles Michel, Executive Vice-President of the Commission Frans Timmermans and Commissioner Jutta Urpilainen in Brussels.

Prime Minister Marin and President of the European Council Michel will discuss the EU's forthcoming financial framework, that is, the Union's Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) for 2021–2027. President of the European Council Michel has convened a special meeting of the European Council to be held in Brussels on 20 February. The aim of the special meeting is to reach agreement on the MFF.

At a meeting with Vice-President Timmermans, Prime Minister Marin will discuss matters under his responsibility: the European Green Deal, the Union’s climate targets by 2030, and the Union's new Forest Strategy.

In addition, Minister Marin will have a meeting with Commissioner Urpilainen to discuss the preparation of the European Strategy for Africa and the Commission's initiatives that have the most relevance for Finland.
