Prime Minister Rinne to the European Council

Prime Minister Antti Rinne will attend the European Council in Brussels on Thursday 20 June, the Euro Summit on Friday 21 June, and the EU27 European Council under Article 50 that convenes without Great Britain.

At the European Council the EU leaders will discuss the high-level appointments to EU institutions and adopt the EU's strategic agenda for 2019-2024. The agenda is to guide the work of the European Council and other EU institutions.

Also on the agenda at the Council is the multiannual financial framework, i.e. the long-term budget of the EU. The European Council will discuss climate change with the aim to reach an agreement on the long-term objective for the EU. The EU leaders will take note of a report on disinformation and elections prepared by the Romanian Presidency in cooperation with the Commission and the High Representative.

At the Euro Summit on Friday the EU heads of state or government will discuss the deepening of the Economic and Monetary Union (EMU). After the Euro Summit the leaders of EU27 will have a brief meeting to discuss the Brexit situation.
