EU toimii maailmanlaajuisen koronakriisin ratkaisemiseksi

Koronavirus on globaali pandemia, jonka torjumisessa tarvitaan globaalia yhteistyötä. EU toimii monin tavoin maailmanlaajuisen koronakriisin ratkaisemiseksi.

Euroopan unionin toimilla rajoitetaan viruksen leviämistä, huolehditaan terveydenhuollon laitteiden saatavuudesta, edistetään rokotteiden, diagnostiikan ja hoitomenetelmien tutkimusta ja hankintaa sekä tuetaan jäsenmaiden taloutta ja työllisyyttä, myös akuutin kriisiajan jälkeen.

Unionin ulkopuolella tukea ohjataan erityisesti konfliktialueille ja kehitysmaihin. 


More flexible EU state aid rules introduced during the COVID pandemic to end in phases

On 12 May 2022, the European Commission decided that the more flexible state aid rules that were introduced to mitigate the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic would largely end on 30 June 2022. The decision was based on the Commission’s assessment that the coronavirus pandemic no longer has a negative impact on the EU economy. However, the measures under the temporary state aid rules to support the recovery of the EU will remain in force until the end of 2022 and 2023.

European Commissioner Stella Kyriakides visits Finland to discuss assistance to Ukraine and Ukrainian people, among others

On 1 April, European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Stella Kyriakides, who is currently visiting Finland, will meet with Minister of Family Affairs and Social Services Aki Lindén. During the day, they will pay a visit to the Helsinki Reception Centre in Punavuori and the Comprehensive Cancer Centre of the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa.

Restrictions on external border traffic extended until 13 March

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread. To safeguard the capacity of the healthcare system, restrictions on external border traffic will continue until 13.3. Some exemptions will however be made. The Government decided on these changes at its session on 10.2. and they will enter into force on 15.2.
