Translation and language services
The Prime Minister's Office is responsible for the ministries' translation and language services in national and other languages.
The Translation and Language Division of the Prime Minister's Office has three units.
The Swedish Language Unit translates government proposals, statutes, press releases, speeches and other documents required in the ministries. The unit also houses the secretariat for the Swedish Language Board.
The Foreign Languages Unit provides the ministries with translation services in English and Russian and interpretation services in Russian.
The Language Services Unit is responsible for the outsourcing of translation services. The unit also issues terminological recommendations, analyses and defines state administration concepts, and compiles glossaries. It administers the online Government Termbank Valter and provides advice on terminology and language issues.
The Translation and Language Division also advises on and develops the quality of administrative language used by ministries.
