Heli Suominen appointed Head of Communications at the Prime Minister’s Office

Heli Suominen has been appointed to serve as Head of Communications at the Prime Minister’s Office for a fixed term extending from 1 April 2023 until 31 July 2024.

Suominen will transfer to the Prime Minister’s Office from the Embassy of Finland in the UK, where she has served as Press Counsellor since 2020.

Previously, she has worked as a Producer and Editor at the Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE, as a journalist, correspondent and editor at Helsingin Sanomat newspaper and as a journalist at the news agency Reuters. She has also served as a Senior Advisor and Programme Director at the consulting agency Miltton. Suominen holds a Master’s degree in Social Sciences from the University of Helsinki.

The Head of Communications is responsible for the current affairs communications of the Prime Minister’s Office and the joint communications of the Government. She leads the current affairs team at the Prime Minister’s Office.
