Renewed Findicator to support decision making
Findicator, a service providing up-to-date statistical information on key social indicators, has been renewed. Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen presented the new Findicator on Wednesday 7 March at a meeting of the Finnish National Commission on Sustainable Development.
Katainen commended Findicator for offering an excellent tool for monitoring the implementation of sustainable development. "Services like Findicator provide information to back decision making. The renewed Findicator is an easily available collection of up-to-date statistical information from various sources and helps visualising the data", Katainen said.
Findicator includes over 100 indicators for social progress. Current statistical data is given on areas such as the economy, health, education, labour market and the environment.
Findicator has been developed and the indicators selected in cooperation with users and producers of statistical data. The indicators have been grouped according to theme. Special attention has been paid to usability of the data outside the service, too. The service creates high-quality graphics and the data is easily downloadable in table, graph or text format for further manipulation and analysis. In addition, the service provides links to larger information sources, metadata and international reference data.
Findicator is a service opened in 2009 as a joint effort of the Prime Ministers Office and Statistics Finland. With the reform, usability of the service has been increased for example by linking it to social media. Findicator.fi is now available also in Swedish and English.
