Prime Minister Sipilä to visit Argentina and Mexico

Prime Minister Juha Sipilä is to make a Team Finland visit to Argentina and Mexico on 10–14 October. The aim of the visit is to strengthen relations between the countries and promote exports.

The visit to Argentina is to take place on 10–11 October. In Buenos Aires Prime Minister Sipilä will meet the President of Argentina Mauricio Macri to discuss the bilateral relations between Finland and Argentina and topical regional and international issues. Besides the meeting with President Macri, the Prime Minister's agenda includes meetings with several ministers.

The aim of the visit is to deepen the relations between the two countries and examine new opportunities for cooperation, both between the governments and among private sectors actors. The Government of Argentina is planning extensive infrastructure projects and there are reforms under way in various sectors of industry which may offer significant business opportunities for Finnish companies as well.

The visit continues in Mexico on 12–14 October, where Prime Minister Sipilä meets the President of Mexico Enrique Peña Nieto. Prime Minister Sipilä and President Peña Nieto will discuss both bilateral and international topics. During the visit Prime Minister Sipilä will meet several Mexican ministers and economic leaders. He will also be one of the keynote speakers at a telecommunications conference. The aim of the visit is to further tighten the active relations between the two countries and enhance the image of Finland as an attractive and innovative country. The visit will also include celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship, which launched the diplomatic relations between Finland and Mexico.

On the visits to both counties the Prime Minister will be accompanied by a business delegation. In Argentina the delegation will have representatives from the energy, cleantech, telecommunications and arctic and in Mexico from ICT companies.
